Holme Parish Plan
This Parish Plan was formulated by residents of the village with assistance where requested from Holme Parish Council.

Short-term
- Establish a Web Site. (1)
- Re-surface 'The Square' (2)
- Promote more Neighbourhood Watch Schemes to cover all the village. (2)
- Improve road markings & traffic warning signs and consider other traffic calming measures. (2)
- Press for provision of shelter for 'south bound' bus passengers in the village centre. (1)
- Improve appearance of village entrance signs and provide additional flower planters and hanging baskets where possible. (2)
- Replace missing handle on the Village Pump with replica. (3)
- Approach the Primary School regarding use of the new tarmac area by young people. (4)
- Direct publicity at the youth of the village to stop the dropping of litter. (2)
- Encourage dog-owners to clean up after their pets by providing poop-scoops & bins.(2)
- Request that the Library Van service be extended to visit Holme Mills. (5)
- Investigate provision of a cash point in the village. (6)
Medium-Term
- Press for any further housing in the village to be on infill sites only and to conform to the character of older properties as stated in Holme Village Design Statement as the infrastructure of the village is incapable of dealing with any more new properties. (2)
- Provide picnic area on North Road near to the canal. (3)
- Provide seat on Station Road for elderly residents who need to walk to the village centre. (2)
- Provide tourism notice boards both at the picnic site and at other locations in the village. (3)
Long-Term
- Press for a 20 mph speed limit throughout the village. (2)
- Further the work of the Committee now set up to seek funding for a Skateboarding area in Honey Potts Field after consultation with all residents. (7)
- Consider employment of a Lengths-man to keep the village clean & tidy. (7)
- Provide an evening session at the Social Club for 14-17 age group with parental assistance. (7)
- Investigate the provision of Community Transport for 16-18 year olds in evenings to Lancaster; Kendal, etc.(7)
- Investigate provision of transport for the elderly to visit hospitals; local villages; Oxenholme Station, etc.(7)
- Investigate need for Clubs for retired people in the village. (7)
- Consider the possibilities of providing a Community Health Centre in the village. (7)
- Ensure that areas adjoining the canal banks to remain free of development but that suitable mooring sites and other related services are identified to the benefit of the village. (2)
- Monitor possible employment opportunities if and when the Lancaster Canal is re-opened. (2)
- Monitor proposed 'Gateway Project' at Motorway Junction 36 as future employment area to maintain viability of Holme as a 'working community'. (2)
- Identify land to create short and long term car park near village centre.(8)
- Monitor possibilities for the provision of public toilets. (9)
- Lobby for footbridge over the M6 at Park Lane or bridleway along the A6070. (2)
- Consider the provision of a purpose-built Community Hall with sports and parking facilities,(2)
- Consider the development of Honey Potts Field as a future location for improved facilities for the village.(2)
